Moll Flanders was born to an inmate of Newgate Prison. She is raised by a wealthy family, the two sons of which fall in love with her. She marries one but, when he dies, goes on to marry a ship's captain and a highwayman. She runs from love to love until destitute, and becomes a thief. Moll is then caught and sent to Newgate. But how will the law treat this impoverished, resourceful character? Based on the novel by Daniel Defoe.
